Very rare early Lotus discovered in bushes

This extremely rare early rally Lotus Cortina has just been discovered in bushes, where it has languished for some 20 years. Believed to have been the early development car used by Sammy Tandem, it won the Bridgeton Stanklifters rally in 1964 and had other high placings in '64 and '65.

Featuring a fluid transmission system developed in Scotland, which did away with gearbox, transmission shaft and differential, the car was normally run in two wheel drive form, but occasionally featured 4-wheel drive when conditions demanded. When the wobbulator flange was engaged it was capable of over 115 mph, but was still very tractable on the weekly shopping trip.

It is now under renovation, but the current owner may be open to offers.
